About the workshop

Enjoy an exclusive, hands-on experience with 2 trainers for every 6 participants. Traveling with us from our workshop in Santiniketan are senior potters from the Sienna, Calcutta family, who will co-host pottery workshops for both kids and adults throughout the residency.

Shape, throw & mould!

19th July – Day 1

Our master potter & senior designer, and Senior glazing expert will give an introduction to hand-thrown pottery and ceramic arts. We will go through each stage of the pottery-making process with visual aids. We will start by teaching to wedge the clay and then throw on the potter’s wheel and finally learn to centre it.

20th July – Day 2

Shape and mould the clay and create various forms using hands and making handles, learning slab, coil and hand-building techniques. They will teach the group how to pull and push the clay body as desired to create various shapes & forms. Surface carving and decorating techniques.

21st July – Day 3:

Working on perfecting the shapes and sizes, controlling the forms, and continuing to practice throwing.

For intermediate level pottery experience

Age requirement: Over the age of 12 years

Duration: 2 hours
