Step into a night of genre defying sound with Abhi Meer aka The Vigilante, Bombay’s very own sonic time traveler. Known for his deep dive vinyl sets and radical DJ philosophy, Abhi brings an electric blend of Motown grooves, underground hip hop, Indian classical, cosmic jazz, and more to the dancefloor. From dusty Detroit 45s to Studio One rarities and beyond, no two sets are ever alike.
About Abhi Meer
Abhi Meer aka The Vigilante is a Bombay based DJ, musician, broadcaster, and educator with an unmatched ear for connecting sounds across space and time. A lifelong vinyl collector with over 4000 records to his name, his sets are immersive, genre-fluid adventures rooted in his vast knowledge of music history and an instinct for the dancefloor.
With influences spanning Prince, Blue Note, Underground Resistance, Wu Tang Clan, Zakir Hussain, and the Grateful Dead, Abhi’s style is a collage of worlds, equal parts scholarly and soulful.
An ethnomusicologist and former music critic, he’s on a mission to preserve and remix our shared musical heritage. Through his radio work at boxout.fm and global appearances, he’s amplified India’s alternative sound to audiences worldwide. His educational project WHYDJ blends Afrofuturism, philosophy, and Jungian psychology to challenge how we understand DJ culture.
Founder of the tongue in cheek anti ‘80s ‘80s club night Plunging Necklines, and creator of the dreamy live synth album Screen Dream (2022), Abhi is a relentless innovator, equally at home behind the decks, in the classroom, or on stage.
